India Blog (#3) 2018 – Chand Baori

We started off the day by departing Jaipur. This was one of our longest traveling days, so there was lots of reading and sitting in the bus. We were headed to a small ancient village of Abhaneri, which is in northern Rajasthan. Along the way, we had a pit stop at a palace. A palace to use the restroom and stretch our legs. Ya’ll, India is just incredible.

Our destination was the Chand Baori, one of the largest step wells in India. Seeing a step well was one of the must do items on my India bucket list.  It absolutely lived up to the hype I had built in my mind.

To make it even more special, it is located adjacent to the temple dedicated to Harshat Mata, goddess of joy and happiness.

This was one of the most rural places we visited in India. I very much felt the need to cover up and be modest. There were few tourists here, which was shocking to me. It made me wonder how many hundreds, if not thousands of hidden gems are in this stunning country.

We had a small lunch and then after lunch, we headed to Agra, which will be our next blog post.
