Munich, Germany

IMG_3726.JPGIf you ask someone who has traveled to Germany about their trip, you will likely here the reply “man, I just love Munich.”

Munich is fun loving, very Bavarian, and very proud of being German.

They have great food, great sites, and even more people. While I am very glad I went to Munich, it by far one of the most crowded places we went, and I was a little over it by the time we got there. Also, it was cold. So. Freaking. Cold. Remember that if you plan a winter trip.

First stop in Munich was BMW Welt, home of the BMW factory. While I am not a car person at all, my good friend Matt is, so he was in heaven. And I have to admit, it was pretty cool. Clean, free bathrooms and lots of pretty cars?!? Count me in.

Then we went on a tour of the city, which included going to Marienplatz Square, home of the famous glockenspiel clock.

Of course, you have to rub the nose of the world famous Munich lions… got to get that luck of the Germans…??… yeah, we will go with that.

Near the square is one of the world famous Rococo churches, Asam Church. While this style is hardly my favorite, there is something overwhelmingly intriguing about that much… well, it is just that much. I wish I had more photographs but they had strict rules about photography.

One of the best parts of the trip was a stop at the Nymphenburg Palace, once summer residence of Bavarian rulers and historic monuments including the Koenigsplatz.

The art work in the palace was breathtaking. One of the must see rooms is the gallery of beautiful women, which is a portrait gallery of many different types of women. If you appreciate female beauty, you will be so intrigued by this room.

Plus the gardens are stunning.

Another must do in Germany is going to a beer hall, which Munich is renowned for. We spent an afternoon in the world famous Hofbrauhaus, which is a tourist trap and utterly crowded, but oh, so fun.

Did I mention how much fun my inlaws are?!?

After some time there, we were ready for some real beer and headed to the Auggustiner brewery. We met this amazing Canadian couple there, had way too much beer, and generally had the best of nights.
