Hey dolls,
Z. and I spent the first eleven days of December wandering around Germany. It was a wonderful trip, plus had all the additional magic of being Z.’s first trip to Europe.
I am going to be writing a detailed post about every city we went to, but this will be a highlight post. It will also include a review of Gate1 travel tours. Please note, they are NOT sponsoring this post.
In all honesty, I do not recommend taking a tour to Germany. It is so easy to get around the country and you will feel so comfortable traveling here. However, I was traveling with two other couples and the idea of planning a group trip was way too much for me with everything else we had going on this year.
Our tour was :
- 2 nights Berlin

- 2 nights Dresden
- 2 nights Nuremberg
- 2 nights Munich
There was a lot of driving in between cities, but we also stopped at some adorable little towns.
Z. was enchanted with Germany. It was not my favorite place on Earth, but it was a fun place to visit. Germany is clean, easy to navigate, and truly beautiful. Our tour was a Christmas market tour, which was super fun for half the trip, and really old the last half.
The Christmas markets are a German tradition. They are the essence of Christmas distilled into an outdoor festival. I wish I could explain just how Christmas-y they were.
Gate1 is an excellent budget tour organization. We traveled with them to Thailand and came back to them for Germany. Their website looks like total sketch-ville, but the service is excellent and we have had a really hard time finding another company that offers the same quality for cheaper.
Each hotel we stayed in was clean and safe. For the most part, they were in excellent locations that were easy to get back to by public transit. Our tour guide, Julian, was knowledgeable and informative. I will say that European tours do tend to run towards an older demographic. Thailand was much more mixed.
I do recommend getting their emails. They often run sales, which are only available thru their emails. They also run deals on Groupon.
Stay turned for a deep look at each city,
Anna
