Books to read this Halloween

It’s no secret that we are big fans of a good book on this blog. When October rolls around, we all know we can pull out a Steven King or an Anne Rice and rock out the spooky vibe. However, if you are interested in some other tales to make you turn on the nightlight, give these a try.

Harrow County by Cullen Bunn

A southern Gothic graphic novel series about magic and witches, both good and bad, this series is intriguing and moves at a good steady pass.

The Ghost Stories of Muriel Spark by Muriel Spark

An oddly different type of horror story. Like all tales by Muriel Spark, this set of ghost stories are more intriguing than terrifying.

But definitely interesting.

Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

This is such a classic, in every sense of the word. If you have never read this book, I think it is truly a delightful investment of your time.

Jaybird by Jaakko AhonenLauri Ahonen

The quickest read on this list, it is almost a graphic novel twist of Psycho. Creeped me out for sure.

Alpha & Omega Series by Patricia Briggs

If your taste runs a little more on the fantasy end, this series might be for you. I found it fun and interesting, although it is outside my norm.

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake

I read this series last year and it was a fantastic YA read. In fact, it was the series that got me thinking about this post and how we need more posts about unusual or not talked about books that work for the season!
