This month has been absolutely insane. I thought for sure that I would read so much this month because of boards finishing up and starting my new job. However, I have been working 60 hours plus, so I have not hit my monthly reading goals.
One jewel of the month though was The Refugees by Viet Thanh Nguyen. Written as a series of short stories told from various voices of Vietnamese refugees. Sad, funny, ironic, and beautiful, this series is very much worth the read.
I read two different lifestyle books this month. Get Your Sh*t Together: How to Stop Worrying About What You Should Do So You Can Finish What You Need to Do and Start Doing What You Want to Do (A No F*cks Given Guide) by Sarah Knight and The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living by Meik Wiking. Both were interesting in their own way, but nothing outstanding to recommend. However, I would say for this style, it was very good.
Jaybird by Jaakko Ahonen and Lauri Ahonen. This book is, in my opinion, a graphic novel retelling of Norman Bates. Well done and creepy, I would recommend it for a quick read.
As always, I’d love to hear about what you are reading!
