Favorite Summer 2017 Fragrances

I change my perfumes along with the season. Even if you don’t change every season, I think changing between winter and summer fragrances is common. Winter fragrances can just be too heavy in the heat of the Kentucky days.

What I look for in a summer fragrance is something bright yet not overwhelming. I like water scents, florals associated with summer, or scents that trigger my back to fond summer memories from the past.

My go to, daily fragrance is the same one that was in my June favorites. I bought it last summer and was iffy about it because of the staying power. However, I just needed to be slightly more heavy handed with this fragrance. I don’t have a problem this summer with the scent lasting 6 to 8 hours.

The notes are bergamot, freesia, marine accord, sambac jasmine, ylang-ylang, frangipani, coconut milk, ambrox, and iris.

However, I do mix it up on occasion. If you run into me at brunch or at the farmer’s market, I will be wearing one of these three scents.

Acqua di Gioia is another old favorite of mine. It is a perfume I find myself wearing all year long , but especially in the summer. It has to be a mild summer day or where I won’t be exerting myself, since it can be a bit much on truly hot days.

The notes are: mint, brown sugar, lemon, jasmine, peony, pink pepper, cedar wood, and  labdanum.

The newest to my summer fragrance was one I bought during the December Sephora sale.  It is the CHANEL CHANCE EAU FRAÎCHE Eau de Toilette. I feel about it much the same way I feel about Acqua. It is a beautiful, bright floral fragrance that is very happy to be worn out and about indoors on the summer days. You’ll smell like the breeze wafting in from a summer flower garden.

The notes are citrus, water hyacinth, jasmine, patchouli, and fresh vetiver.
