Daily Cleaning Routine

Last week I talked about how I have implemented a new cleaning routine and how great it has been, even with a lot of ups and downs. The foundation of my cleaning routine is my daily routine because even when I don’t have the time to do my zone cleaning routine, my home just feels cleaner. When my life is crazy, at least my home feels tidy.

So, what do I do to keep my home tidy?

First I make a walk through the house and just pick up the stuff that was out of place. It takes about 5 minutes to clean up the night before’s mess and getting for work mess.

Then, I make the bed and clean up Z.’s side of the bed. I also put away any clothes that got left out. About 5 minutes.

I go to the bathroom and clean the sink and the toilet. Add 2 minutes into the list.

I walk to the kitchen and wash any dishes, put away dishes, and wipe down the cabinets/stove/outside of the fridge. That takes about 5 minutes, since there are not usually much mess in the morning.

Finally, I sweep the whole house, which takes about 5 minutes. This is an absolute must because we have this gal, who likes to shed all over the house.

Additionally, I do one load of laundry every day. I put the clothes in the washer the night before, when I am cleaning up my kitchen post dinner, and start it when I come home. I HATE laundry, so one load a day is much more manageable.

That is 22 minutes (at most) and the sanity of my mind is restored. Honestly, most days it takes even less, but I like to book that much time in my daily schedule. It has made such a world of difference. I don’t panic when I hear someone is coming over to visit. I don’t walk in the house and think “ugh what a disaster!” Plus, since it is a daily clean, my weekly big clean takes less time and the house just feels so much bigger and like adults live here.

What about you guys? I love to hear about other peoples’ daily cleaning schedule.
