November/ December reads

I sincerely hope you have spent the not so cold winter months cuddled up reading a book. Sadly, I have not. I think I got caught up in the holiday work and neglected reading. But here are the few books that I managed to get to. Be prepared for some fluffy reviews.

Ooh La La! French Women’s Secrets to Feeling Beautiful Every Day by Jamie Cat Callan was so uninteresting, I don’t know why I finished it, outside of the fact it was the only book I brought with me on a trip.

However, two books I did love was Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake. Both, but especially the second in the series, was engaging and a bit of scary in the midst of holiday sweetness. I recommend both these books.

A Game for Swallows: To Die, to Leave, to Return by Zeina Abirached was a short and interesting graphic narrative about friends who share an apartment complex during the midst of war. Worth a read, but not something that is high on my recommendation list.

Finally, I read two beauty books: Lauren Conrad Beauty by Lauren Conrad and Make Up: Your Life Guide to Beauty, Style, and Success–Online and Off by Michelle Phan. I cannot say that I loved either, but I was also not the target demographic. However, I would recommend it to much younger women.
