Over my August school break, I wandered in to my local Hobby Lobby and wandered out with an unfinished pumpkin cutout and a desire to make something to put me in the fall mood.
I knew what I wanted to do, but I thought it would be a great chance for a roundup. Joining me is the amazing Jess from Hello Tanks and the wonderful Melissa, formerly of Growing with the Kochers. Both women are insanely creative, yet have a very different home aesthetic. Check out how they styled the same wood cutout:
Melissa went with a beautiful, timeless design. Sigh. She has such fabulous taste:
She even showed all the ways you could style the piece:
So pretty, right?
Here is how I went about decorating mine.
I started with painting the whole thing a pale cream color and then added in some gold dots.
I thought that might be enough, but I felt that it needed something more. So I painted the phrase “Give thanks” and finished it off.
I might add a bow, but right now I am really pleased with how it looks. What do you think? Not bad for a $4.99 project!
I love how many options this piece gives you and a huge shout out to Melissa and Jess for their work on this collab. Be sure to head over to Jess’s blog and she what she has going on over there.
Now excuse me while I head back to Hobby Lobby to grab some more pumpkins!
