This has been such as awesome month. Valentine’s Day, breaking a reading slump, getting in to nursing school. Honestly, this has been an amazing month and I feel so blessed to start the new year in such a positive way.
This recipe. How have I not mentioned this recipe? We made it once, just to try it out, and Z. about his lost his mind. He requested it again and again. We have now made it three different weeks for the soup part of our soup/salad lunch. Guys, try it. It is so good.
BudgetBytes.com. How have I not been utilizing her blog more often? I am very budget conscious right now and this is a great resource. Plus, while I don’t love every recipe, I like most of them.
The podcast Sawbones. I am a medical knowledge junkie and this podcast is like my dealer. Done by a doctor duo, this awesome couple takes you through random medical stuff. Check it out.
January was a rough reading month. There was a couple of standouts, but overall I felt like I was reading a bunch of mediocre books that didn’t excite me. This lead in to early February. But the reading winds changed for me and I ended up having some read standouts.
My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout is a relatively new title, coming out in 2016. I found this book to be a sentimental and sad story of the relationship between a mother and daughter. This was my first book by this author, but it makes me want to check out some of her other work.
The unbeatable Squirrel Girl : Squirrel Power by North and Henderson. If you are a comic book fan but can appreciate some of the ridiculousness of the genre or if you are a fan of works like Bandette then this is a book you will probably enjoy. I cannot recommend the whole series because this is the first one I have read, but it was super fun. Definitely one to add to your reading list.
[SPOILER ALERT]:: Batman: the Doom that Came to Gotham was a total miss for me. It was a Lovecraft style Batman story which is receiving rave reviews but I thought was, dare I say it? Completely ridiculous. [SPOILER ALERT]:: He turns into a literal bat at the end. Batman turns in to a bat. WTF? Officially the laziest concept work I have read in a long time.
Bossypants by Tina Fey. This one was my own fault. I never watch her work, so why would I be into her book? Turns out I wasn’t.
